Voice-Care International Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been selected as a finalist in the ‘Most Promising Pilot’ Category in the Health Tech Awards 2025 for its Surgical Workflow Application.
The Voice-Care Surgical Workflow Application has been developed in accordance with the WHO, LocSSIPs and NatSSIPs Checklists alongside surgical clinicians, Heads of Governance and ICUs following discussions regarding Surgical Safety Checklists.
Designed by clinicians for clinicians, the Voice-Care digital platform enables the guidance and recording of Surgical Safety Checklists with the use of voice, delivering 100% compliance and a significant increase in productivity, patient safety and care. The trials at Imperial College Healthcare Trust (ICHT) delivered significant benefits for patients and clinicians alike.
The solution was trialled with a uniquely designed medical cart featuring docking stations for both a PDA and a Jabra headset, while an in-built Jabra speaker allows for commands to be heard by the entire surgical team.
Through the use of a comprehensive software platform, it enables the verbal recording of any checklist before, during and after a procedure, instantly recording and uploading notes to the patient record directly from the point of care upon completion of the procedure or event. The solution guides teams through procedures via a pre-defined set list of questions, continually capturing critical procedural patient information and data to ensure 100% compliance and standardisation, accurate, accessible record keeping and the elimination of human factor issues to enhance and improve positive patient outcomes.
The solution is geared to listen out for specific responses, and the team at ICHT worked alongside Voice-Care to focus on CVV line insertion; a procedure which involves around 40 steps. Taking clinicians through a step-by-step approach to the procedure, Voice-Care is totally hands and eyes free and voice directed, which allows users to confirm that each step within any procedure has been completed.
The solution has also enabled ICHT to capture and document items that they were previously unable to capture, such as real-time images of the wire insertion. The manoeuvrability of the medical cart enables usage of the solution within wards and A&E departments as well as the operating theatre. ICHT also found it extremely easy to train clinicians on the solution – around 20 minutes per user.
Philip Jarrett, Executive Director at Voice-Care comments,
We are absolutely delighted that our Surgical Workflow Application has been recognised yet again, this time as a finalist in the ‘Most Promising Pilot’ Category in the Health Tech Awards 2025. Despite being a relatively newly formed company, Voice-Care is backed by decades of experience within the voice technology and healthcare sectors, and this latest accolade is testament to the huge amount of work and effort that has gone into making Voice-Care the solution that it is today. As a business, we are passionate about patient safety and care, and are delighted that the solution will go a long way in improving both of these elements within any hospital or clinical setting, helping nurses, doctors and clinicians effectively manage the care which they give to their patients, especially in light of the ongoing staff shortages within the NHS.
The Voice-Care Partner Ecosystem comprises of leading companies within their respective fields, including Zebra Technologies, Jabra, Infor, Tappable, Apex Systems, Nuance and Lydia Voice, a solution of the EPG Ehrhardt Partner Group, a global leader and expert in voice-directed solutions.
Philip Jarrett concludes,
We are very much looking forward to the virtual awards ceremony in October and would also like to pass on our congratulations to all the other finalists.
